Apple has been in the business of making computers for many years now, but the company really started to gain attention when they began producing laptop, or notebook, computers. And although Apple’s future as a leading notebook computer producer did not begin with the MacBook, it is the MacBook line that users first began to see advance technology in a portable computer produced by the company. Prior to the production of the MacBook Pro, Apple first produced the iBook, which was designed specifically with consumers and the education industry in mind. Following the iBook, the company then produced the PowerBook, which was designed more for professionals. Both of these were significantly higher in cost than notebooks in the MacBook line currently are today, and neither had the capabilities that we have seen in the MacBook Pro.
MacBook Pro History
– The first MacBook Pro was introduced by Apple in the beginning of 2006, on January 10th. The last notebook to be produced by Apple prior to the introduction of the MacBook Pro was the PowerBook G4. While there were noticeable differences in the design of the PowerBook G4 compared to the new MacBook Pro, the biggest changes had to do with the status of the company itself at the time, as it was around this time that Apple became associated with Intel. This is why the beginning of the MacBook generation was so important, both to Apple and Intel, as well as to consumers. It is at this point that Apple computers, both desktop and notebook, began to be manufactured with Intel processors, and along with the iMac, the MacBook Pro featured an Intel Core Duo processor, and later in 2006 an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. Since 2006 there have been multiple models of the MacBook Pro produced, each one better than the last when it comes to specifications and capabilities.
Specifications and Capabilities
The latest model of the MacBook Pro is by far the best one yet, both in regards to appearance and in regards to specifications and capabilities. This particular machine can come equipped with either an Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7 processor, depending on the size a consumer chooses, and has a 4 GB RAM capacity. The 2011 MacBook Pro also features the Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system, which comes with multiple applications pre-installed on it. The best new feature of the MacBook Pro to be introduced with the newest model is the significantly better battery. The capabilities of the battery alone are enough of a reason to choose the 2011 MacBook Pro over other notebooks, as it allows users to run their MacBooks for up to seven hours. And the new battery is designed to last for many more years than those previously installed in MacBook computers. Upon initial glance it may seem like Apple didn’t make many changes to the MacBook Pro, but they did. Although most of those changes are on the inside, they definitely contribute to the overall improvements in the MacBook Pro.
