Starting and maintaining a blog is a lot of hard work. If you’ve committed to developing your own niche blog, then there’s no doubt you’ll want to see all of your hard work pay off with the success of your blog. There are several things that can hold you back from that sometimes-elusive success. Here are seven reasons your niche blog is failing:
Lack of investment. Not only does this refer to a financial investment (which you will inevitably have to make in order to make your blog successful), but it also refers to a time investment. Don’t think for a second that you’re going to be able to approach your blog as a hobby to “squeeze in” when you have the time, and that you’re going to make any money that way. Your blog has to be a priority – period – or it won’t be successful.
Lack of promotion. Just because you create a blog and fill it with content, it does not mean people will automatically be able to find your blog. There are, literally, thousands upon thousands of blogs out there competing for attention. If you want people to come to your blog, you have to promote it.
High quality guest posts and low quality content. If your blog promotion efforts involve writing guest posts for other blogs, then you’ve no doubt seen how these guest posts can drive traffic to your blog. However, it’s important to remember that your blog’s content needs to parallel your guest post content in quality, or else those new visitors will feel cheated.
Lack of definition. Don’t forget that a “niche” is a specific topic. If your blog content is all over the place because you still haven’t settled in one place, then your visitors will most likely head to a different place.
Lack of personalization. Your blog readers want to feel like they’re developing a relationship with a person – not with a robot . . . or with the “admin.” Blog as yourself, in your own name, and be yourself. The secret to earning reader loyalty is to give them some of your true self. You need to make the investment first, before you ask them to invest themselves.
Lacking in social media connections. Don’t underestimate the importance of connecting with readers through social networking sites. Set up accounts on all the major sites and promote, promote, promote.
Unrealistic expectations. Your apparent failure may actually just be perceived failure. Do some research and set realistic goals for yourself. Be patient. If you are safeguarding yourself against these niche blog killers, then your blog will eventually succeed, at its own pace.
If you feel that your niche blog is not as successful as you’d hoped it would be, then you may have overlooked some of these important elements of blog-building. If you take these things into consideration and put the effort into making your blog better, you will see a return. Good luck
