While surfing the Internet this morning, I came across an article on Adrogen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS). AIS is a syndrome where a woman has a Y chromosome. How is that possible? Wouldn’t that make her a man?

According to what I read, a woman with a Y chromosome does not make her a half-man, half woman. Although scientifically her DNA says she’s a man but she’s a woman with a Y chromosome. How bizarre! AIS is a disorder of sexual development where the woman does not have a uterus or ovaries and I read that AIS can be passed down through the mother or occur as a spontaneous mutation!

A woman with AIS produces huge amounts of testosterone but her body cannot process any of the testosterone. So what happens with the excess amount of testosterone? It is turned into female hormone estrogen. This gives a woman with AIS much more estrogen than the average woman. The outcome of that is a woman with AIS doesn’t get acne, do not have body odour and sweat minimally!
