Facebook is one of the fastest growing social networking portal after MySpace and there is bound to be someone that you come across who is on Facebook or is about to be a Facebook convert. One of the coolest thing in Facebook that makes it an addictive cyber-social website is the ever growing number of applications.
One of the popular application that most Facebookers have installed is Superwall. Some of you might know but some may not know that Superwall was created by a smal company in the Silicon Vallye called Rockyou.com. Rockyou.com has ingeniously tapped into the fun side of the web by creating self-expression widgets. Self-expression widgets are used to enhance the look and feel of blogs and personal website. Interactive self-expression widgets like Superwall creates stickiness. Those in the web marketing business will appreciate stickiness. When you have a website you rejoice when you get plenty of visitor hits because with lots of hits, companies will advertise on your site and you can make money from affiliate programs. That is a web marketers dream but how do you keep your visitors and get them to constantly come back to your site? You have to give them a reason to stick around. Self-expressing widgets fit in well in social networking websites because the majority of members of social networking sites are young and they are net savvy. They spend a lot of time online and self-expressing widgets are hooks to keep users coming back to a site. Here is an interview conducted by Facereviews.com with Jia Shen, the co-founder of Rockyou.com. Rockyou.com is successful because they found an application niche and a symbiotic partnership with Facebook.
