The lack of 3G in iPhone

In the iPhone UK launch, Steve Jobs explains why 3G is not provided in iPhone. He said that it will compromise the battery life. Instead Apple provides a faster wi-fi that delivers data several times faster than 3G. For now Apple may be able to play down the need for iPhone to support 3G. As for future generation of iPhone, it will be essential to provide 3G.
